The tropical plant called Indigoferia Tinctoria has been cultivated for thousands of years in the south of Asia and Africa. It yields an intense blue dye which came to be known in the ancient world as “indigo,” a Greek word which means “from India.” Natural indigo dying, rooted in Japanese culture, dates back to 1600 with Samurai wearing indigo-dyed fabrics under their armour to help keep bacteria from wounds.

Shade of beads may vary slightly from from photo and between sizes. Will not rub off.
